A handwoven wool runner is not a mass-produced carpet cut to length. It is an individual woven wool piece made for a specific space. At Kilim Art Studio, runners are woven by hand on an antique loom. The base ornament remains recognizable, while the length and color palette can be adapted to the interior.

The studio is connected with Kosiv and the Ukrainian kilim traditions of Prykarpattia. We work with contemporary interiors while preserving the hand technique, the rhythm of the ornament and the living texture of natural wool.

Why wool

Wool is a natural material for the home: warm, resilient and pleasant to the touch. A wool runner feels comfortable under bare feet. It does not have the cold, plastic-like feel of synthetic textiles and works naturally in a living space.

The carpet yarn is dense, so the runner can withstand everyday use in a corridor, entryway, beside a bed or in a high-traffic area. It is not a one-season item, but a textile that can serve in an interior for a long time with proper care.

Flatwoven and reversible structure

A Kilim Art Studio runner is flatwoven, pileless and reversible. It does not have a long pile or a knotted fluffy layer, so the surface stays dense, even and practical for everyday use.

The design reads on both sides, and the runner leaves fewer wool fibers than long-pile pieces. It is easier to shake out, vacuum, rinse by hand and dry after proper cleaning.

Important: this is not a lizhnyk

Search results often mix kilims, runners and lizhnyky. A lizhnyk is a separate Hutsul textile tradition: a shaggy, pile-based, very warm wool piece. It can be beautiful and authentic, but in feel and care it is a different kind of textile.

Lizhnyky often have a rougher pile texture, may leave more wool fibers and need different care. A Kilim Art Studio runner is flatwoven, pileless, reversible and more convenient specifically as a floor runner for a contemporary interior.

What runners can be ordered

In the Kilim Art Studio catalog, you can choose an ornament for a handwoven runner. Two base widths are available: 70 cm for a corridor, entryway, bedside area or narrow space; 100 cm for a wider passage, room, gallery or accent area.

The length is selected for your space. The ornament, width, length and color palette are confirmed before weaving.

How the price is calculated

The approximate price of a wool runner is 5,000 UAH per m². On the site, you can choose an ornament, width and length, and the form will show a preliminary price.

Final details are confirmed after discussing the order, timing and delivery.

Care

Machine washing is not recommended. For a wool runner, dry cleaning or careful hand cleaning with a mild soap solution is better.

Because of the flatwoven pileless structure, the runner is easier to rinse and dry than a long-pile piece. Dry it in the shade, without overheating. It can be ironed through gauze.

Delivery

Orders can be shipped within Ukraine and internationally. Delivery is discussed individually and depends on the size of the piece, destination country and carrier rates.
